Founded in Canmore, Alberta, we’re all about redefining what a mountain getaway should be. Our locations are designed for adventure seekers, featuring fully equipped kitchens, rooftop hot tubs, and easy access to the best outdoor activities. Basecamp is a recognized leader in real estate development and hospitality, specializing in the development of assets that deliver unique and impressionable experiences. These assets will generate both project-based and sustained long-term returns to investors.

Our Executive Team
Sky Mclean
CEO / Owner
Sky is a Canadian entrepreneur building a hospitality empire with her company Basecamp Resorts, the fastest growing hospitality brand in Western Canada. Born and raised in Ontario, she earned an MBA in real estate at the Schulich School of Business at York University. Her appreciation of the outdoors and winter sports led her to Calgary after graduation, where she worked for a local real estate developer. At age 29, Sky bought her first property, a condominium in Canmore, and rented it out on AirBnB. She instantly fell in love with the business model, and since then has successfully owned and operated 8 modern boutique hotels in mountain towns across Alberta and British Columbia under the Basecamp Resorts brand. An outdoor enthusiast, Sky is an avid downhill skier, Nordic skier, snowmobiler and mountain biker. She lives in Canmore, AB with her husband and two children
Birol Fisekci
Chief Strategy Officer
Birol started his real estate career in 1993 in land development in Turkey. Upon returning to Canada in 2003 he has successfully architected and implemented strategic and tactical plans for both land and housing operations. He co-negotiated the land for the Harmony Community development, a 1750-Acre master-planned lake community taking it from visionary concept to an approved project, and finally to thriving reality in 2014 with his development team. Harmony has been recognized with multiple awards including 5X Community of the Year. Birol is passionate about driving operational efficiencies and creating strong corporate cultural. His unique expertise is in creating valuable, authentic well-crafted brands that drive stakeholder value. He is an avid mountain biker, husband, father of two, and an active community member.
Dave Jones
Chief Operating Officer
Dave has been working in the hospitality industry for 25 years, and was previously in private club management for 15 years. Dave holds a designation of a Certified Club Manager (CCM) from Ryerson University, Toronto and Georgia State University, Atlanta. Prior to accepting his position with Basecamp Property Management, Dave was the Operations Manager of The Calgary Petroleum Club, a full-service member only club. Dave holds a Hotel and Restaurant Management post secondary education and has a proven track record of substantially increasing and maintaining guest satisfaction ratings at a superior level. He strives to maximize revenues and improve guest relations for all Basecamp properties. Dave currently serves as a board member of Tourism Canmore Kananaskis.
Willie Miller
VP of Development
Willie brings in-depth expertise to our development sites. With a background spanning 25 years in residential construction, he started framing homes early on in his career. Willie joined Baywest Homes in 2001, establishing his career building complex custom homes as a Site Supervisor and serving as a Warranty Technician. Willie moved over to Basecamp Resorts in 2023 providing field operations support out on our development sites. His experience spans all facets of residential construction with this full-circle expertise of how land must be prepped with the infrastructure, to how new hotels, homes and spa will be built.
Tim McLean
VP of Construction / Owner
Tim McLean is the President of Construction at Basecamp Resorts and the owner of Shape Construction, the dedicated construction division of Basecamp Resorts. Since the inception of Basecamp Resorts in 2016, Tim has been responsible for overseeing and managing all construction projects for the company. With over 15 years of experience as a Journeyman Carpenter in the construction industry prior to joining Basecamp, Tim brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to his role.
Geoff McLean
VP of Marketing / Owner
Geoff has been responsible for all things marketing and brand-related since Basecamps inception. He has been integral in defining the Basecamp aesthetic and massing a following of over 40,000 engaged fans across various social media platforms. He has also been spear-heading the development of Basecamps internal marketing division, bringing together a highly skilled and digitally focused group who continue to push boundaries in the hospitality space, showing consistent growth and performing well above market trends, in every location that the brand operates in. Geoff is also an Academy and Grammy award nominated and 3x Juno Award winning filmmaker.
Danielle Spooner
VP of Operations
Danielle is responsible for overseeing all lodging operations within the Basecamp Properties portfolio. She works with the management teams to ensure standards, values and goals are met via net promoter scores. She oversees the execution of strategy, planning, organic and acquisition growth, budgeting, and day-to-day operational oversight of the Basecamp group. Originally from England, Danielle has an honors degree in International Business, Finance and Economics from one of the most established universities in the UK. Danielle has seven years of revenue management experience, and previously worked trading investments for a discretionary investment manager, so has a strong understanding of market forces which she has applied to her decision-making process in the hotel field.
Teresa Cook
Chief Financial Officer
Teresa joined the Basecamp Management team in 2017 to spearhead the accounting department by providing financial services to the real estate development division as well as the operations of all of the hotels. Teresa has been in the Bow Valley since 1998, during this time successfully achieving her CPA, CGA designation. The Basecamp team is thrilled to have her as she brings a wealth of knowledge in the finance and accounting industry. Teresa’s prior experiences include the not-for-profit sector, construction and project management and royalty-based financing in the oil and gas sector.
Hakeem Mitha
Chief Capital Officer
Hakeem leads the capital strategy and investor relations for Basecamp Resorts as Chief Capital Officer. Since joining in 2025, Hakeem has drawn on his extensive experience across real estate and capital markets, having previously supported organizations such as Brookfield, Avenue Living, and a private family office. His expertise spans across mixed-use development, home building, land development, and income-producing properties, with involvement in over $5 billion of capital markets and M&A transactions.
Hakeem is a former Board Member of Calgary Montessori School and has served as Partner and Chair of the Investment Committee at Social Venture Partners. He holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria. Outside of work, Hakeem enjoys both winter and summer activities, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
